66 GMC Rescue

This photo was taken at Sarasota County Fire Station 21. I bought this truck in January, 2003, from a collector (police officer) in Franklin Park, IL and sold it in September to a truck dealer in Clearwater (FL) via eBay. It was then purchased by a fire chief in Pinellas County. I had the interior completely restored by a local body shop and a local upholstery shop. Authentic 1966 GM fabric was used. I restored the engine and engine compartment myself.

This truck started its life as a telephone company truck. It was that old horrid greenish gold. The interior and the underside of the hood were still that color when I took deliver. YUCK. The phone company suplussed it soon after buying it and it was purchased by the Richland (NJ) Vol. FD. I was the second collector to own it.

Here the truck is getting ready for the annual Fun N Sun Parade in Clearwater, FL in May., 2003
