Chemical paint stripper

bubbling paint.jpg

Dave Miner and I flew to Knoxville in January of 2004 and drove this to Venice, FL. At the time Dave was my oldest daughter's fiance, now he is her husband. Dave spearheaded the restoration. We took it down to metal, removed the glass, front clip, you name it. What ever we could replace, we replaced. In the first photo, paint stripper has been applied. The vehicle was two-tone green originally and served the Bergen County Fire-Police-EMS academy as a training vehicle. We believe it was never used in real service until Commander VanDermark owned it and used it with his volunteer dive/rescue team in Beaufort.

The Suburban is now owned by Commander Jon VanDermark, USN. God bless and protect our troops!
