Earl Midlam presents plaque to fire truck photographer and retired fire fighter Jack Mersereau for his work in the project. Jack is my history consultant too! Local dignitaries who were not fire fighters (i.e. Police Chief Tom McNulty) were given juvenile size hats to wear. He really is a great guy and friend and doesn't have a big head as the image may suggest!
Here Old Betsy is still covered...a 1926 American LaFrance fire engine owned by the City of Venice. It just returned this week (Feb, 2012) from a state prison in Deltona, FL, where it was restored by inmates in the body shop program.
Just outside the parking lot where Old Betsy was rededicated, my Pirch sits along with Venice Engine 54.
The cover was raised by Venice FD's 100' platform truck.
